Grant Program Overview
Center for the Study of Multicultural Children’s Literature (CSMCL) is an organization advocating for multicultural children’s literature which includes librarians, teachers, parents, caregivers, students, and experts in the field of children’s literature. CSMCL will award a $600.00 grant in selected multicultural children’s books to your library that serve children and their families who are having a Día library program, El Día de Los Niños/El Día de Los Libros (Children’s Day/Book Day) with an African American Focus. The Día grant with an African American Focus is funded by the Center for the Study of Multicultural Children’s Literature (CSMCL) in partnership with the Association of Library Services to Children (ALSC) and author Pat Mora, the founder of Children’s Day, Book Day/ El día de los niños, El día de los libros; often known as Día.
Grant Eligibility
Libraries that serve children and their families who are having a Día program, El Día de Los Niños/El Día de Los Libros (Children’s Day/Book Day), with an African American Focus are eligible to apply. The 2023 deadline has passed.
Grant Award Amount
CSMCL will award a $600 grant in selected multicultural children’s books for your library. To verify the event, the winning library must submit 15 digital photos (as jpegs) of the Día event to CSMCL by sending the 15 jpegs (of the activity) via email no later than one week after the Día event.
Selection Criteria
Awardees will be selected based upon creativity and originality of the implementation of their 2023 Día program, El Día de Los Niños/El Día de Los Libros (Children’s Day/Book Day), with an African American Focus.
Grant Application
The 2023 deadline has passed.
Applications must be received by March 8, 2023.
Award will be announced on or about March 13, 2023.
